How to Play Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold 'em works this way: Five community cards are laid face-up on the table in three stages; each player gets two private cards called "hole cards." The first stage introduces three cards known as the "flop." Then, a single card called the "turn" is added, and the last community card is called the "river." The objective is to create the best five-card hand using your two-hole and five community cards.
Betting occurs through every phase of the game. Once you see your hole card, you can place your minimum bet. You can choose to:
- Fold if you feel your hand isn't strong enough.
- Raise your bet if you feel good about your hand.
- Call to match the highest bet—this can be used to force your opponent to fold.
If no one raises the bet from the beginning, you can "check" and carry on without placing new bets. If you intend to go all-in, just toss all your chips into the pot. Every round offers the chance to collect as many chips as possible from other players.
